Commerce One has joined 23 online marketplaces in 15 countries to form the Global Trading Web Association, focused on expanding B2B e-commerce.

The association is an outgrowth of the Global Trading Web, formed last year by Commerce One to provide economies of scale for buyers, suppliers, and providers through independent industry portals. The association was formed to develop B2B standards and remove technical barriers to international trade.

For now, the association’s membership consists entirely of core users of the Global Trading Web, but any company that uses the Global Trading Web even for the smallest transactions can join.

The Charter Members of the Global Trading Web Association include: Asia2B (Hong Kong); Banco Nacional de Mexico, S.A. (Artikos) (Mexico); BT MarketSite (UK); Cable & Wireless Optus (Australia); Com2B (Taiwan); Commerce One; Concert; conextrade (Switzerland); (India); Metique; NTT Com (Japan); by Endesa Marketplace (Spain); PeopleSoft MarketPlace; PT Prime Tradecom (Portugal); PricewaterhouseCoopers; SESAMi.NET (Singapore); Sterling Commerce; TD MarketSite (Canada); and TradeAlliance (Singapore).
