According to a recent report by The Radicati Group titled, "Directory Services: Market and Product Analysis, 2000-2004," Oracle has a lead of over 44 percent of the market segment for carrier directory services. This is ahead of IBM SecureWay, which holds 15 percent market share. The study suggests that Oracle Internet Directory is currently the industry's preferred choice for large service providers, including Internet Service Providers, Application Services Providers, telecommunications companies, and other large enterprises. Powered by Oracle9i Database, Oracle(r) Internet Directory delivers superior scalability, availability and security over competing products, and allows large service providers to centralize and simplify management for all types of data within the network.

The report also suggested that of all the directory vendors evaluated, Oracle could be in the best position to develop true directory integration tools for enterprise applications, packaged applications, CRM and e-commerce tools.
