Excellent article covering the online monitoring space. I just wanted to note that Google Alerts does in fact cover forums and message boards (with the "Discussions" alert type) and, since last month, social media such as posts on Twitter, Buzz, Facebook and MySpace (with the "Updates" alert type). As with other alerts, you can have these delivered in near realtime, or have the results collected and sent once per day or once per week.
