Good article, Chris. Like many marketers, I've been following this subject unfold for quite a while and I tend to agree with the more apocalyptic view, especially in light of the recent strong feelings generated by Facebook's attitude to sharing personal data. All the reasons for allowing 3rd party brokers to continue are in the interests of the brokers and marketers - there is nothing to suggest individuals benefit from brokering at all. The current strong feeling I believe will simply not allow room for brokering of data in future.
