Internet Selling

28th Mar 2001
This conference presentation discusses Internet selling with particular reference to recent UK activity. It begins with some examples of Internet success stories, including two examples of direct UK entrants: Dell and Amazon. It then goes on to present the results of a survey of 38 UK financial services which tested their ability to respond to demands made upon them by their own e-mail sales systems. The presentation considers the limitations of current Internet technology, what UK financial products will sell online, whether it is better to be a cutting-edge leader or a "fast follower", and "green field" vs integrated approach. The presentation is annotated throughout with conference participant comments.
