Unsurprisingly, evidence demonstrates that shoppers are more likely to leave slow loading ecommerce sites without buying than they are those sites that load quickly. But the margins can be pretty fine - 87% of users abandon checkout processes that take seven seconds or more, according to research.
This is having a tremendous impact on retailers, with statistics suggesting that abandoned shopping carts are costing them a whopping $4 trillion a year.
