CRM over VoIP: believe the Skype

Voice over IP (VoIP) giant Skype has extended its play as a next-generation business tool by adding more functionality to the version integrated with Salesforce.com via the CRM company’s third-party application mart AppExchange.

By more closely integrating VoIP with the on-demand CRM suite, Skype says that it enables Salesforce.com customers, who are primarily in the small and medium-sized sector, to improve the way they manage contacts with colleagues, customers and prospects.

The upgraded Skype for Salesforce enables Salesforce.com customers to make and receive Skype calls or texts directly with people whose Skype indicators can be added manually or imported automatically into Salesforce. SkypeOut calls to non-Skype users' phone numbers can be made with a single click, and users can also make conference calls of up to 10 participants with any combination of Skype and non-Skype users.
