Siebel’s head of sales is leaving after 15 months in the job and will not be replaced. Instead three former Oracle executives will report directly to Tom Siebel himself.

Richard Chiarello, Siebel’s third head of sales since 2001, resigned as senior vice president of worldwide sales. At the same time, the company regrouped its sales staff into three global regions after nine quarters of declining revenue.

Three regional presidents, who are all ex-Oracle - will now be responsible for sales, field marketing, professional services and sales consulting in their respective areas. "What we did is just take out a corporate layer of management," said Siebel.

Gary Hanna, who joined the company in 1997, will lead the America's business unit, while Carlos Chou, who joined the company in 1999, takes charge of the Asia-Pacific unit. Neil Weston, who headed up Siebel's operations in the UK in 2001, returns to the company to head operations in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

The company is scheduled to report its complete fourth-quarter earnings next week which will see an upturn in its fortunes with better than expected figures.
