Alterian, the provider of Analysis Database technology, has announced its latest partnership with the UK’s CRM outsourcing company, Vertex.
Alterian’s technology will power a new breed of solutions from Vertex to provide companies, primarily in the public, commercial and utility sectors, with solutions to maximize the value of their customer base.
Vertex’s VCRM solution integrates the transactional elements of CRM with customer segmentation and analysis, data warehousing and campaign management. Alterian’s technology will be the foundation of the data analysis component.

Vertex supplies end-to-end CRM solutions to organisations in the public, utilities and commercial sectors. Alterian provides solutions primarily for the financial services, automotive and retail industries and is expanding into entertainment, utilities and travel.
The Vertex outsourcing proposition provides access to an integrated and flexible CRM infrastructure encompassing customer acquisition, contact management and billing and payment services underpinned by enabling technology.
The scale of Vertex’s operation is impressive – every year it handles around 14 million client customers, over 106 million calls, prints and sends out 36 million bills, and processes 93 million payment transactions to a value of £6 billion. The company recently signed a seven-year contract worth around £350m with Eastern Energy, part of Texas Utilities. With the recent sale of Norweb Energi to TXU, the total value to Vertex is £650m.
Vertex clients include NorthWest Water, Norweb Energi, Eastern Energy, Littlewoods Bet Direct, the London Borough of Ealing and Cable & Wireless. In addition, the company is operating a number of pilot call centres on behalf of blue chip clients in the financial services and home-shopping sector. It has around 7,000 employees, and a turnover of £300 million.
Alterian’s Analysis Database platform and integrated software tools enable data analysis to be viable both in terms of speed and cost. Its data analysis technology can be applied to a wide range of applications, from customer and product analysis through to fraud detection and network traffic analysis.
Working with partners including Accurate Business Solutions, Carlson Marketing, Claritas, CMG, Dimension Data, Experian, GB Information Management, MarkIT Information Services, Microgen Kaisha, Occam and Vertex, Alterian creates customised technology that works seamlessly with existing systems.
