Aspect Communications Corporation, provider of customer relationship portals, has reported record quarterly revenues of $148.3 million for the first quarter ended March 31, 2000, an increase of 48 per cent compared with the first quarter of 1999 and the second consecutive quarter of record revenues. Software license revenue in the first quarter of 2000 was $48.0 million or 56 per cent of total product revenues.
Pro forma net income in the first quarter of 2000 was $7 million or $0.13 per diluted share. This compares with a pro forma loss of $9.4 million or a $0.19 loss per share in the first quarter of 1999. Included in Q1 2000 results is a net after-tax gain of $2.2 million or $0.04 per diluted share arising from the sale of marketable equity securities.
Including a $5 million or $0.10 per share write-off of in-process research and development expenses resulting from the acquisition of PakNetX, which closed during the first quarter of 2000, the net loss in the first quarter of 2000 was $2.8 million or $0.06 per share. This compares to a net loss of $13.3 million or a loss of $0.27 per share in the first quarter of 1999.
