iPlanet E-Commerce Solutions has announced accelerating momentum for its internet service deployment platform. More than 20 leading companies have joined to endorse the iPlanet platform.

Based on best-of-breed, open and proven technologies, the platform includes the world’s top messaging, directory, web and application servers.

iPlanet also announced that Hewlett Packard is shipping its Directory Server with the HP-UX operating environment.

“Our estimates put the e-business market at $100 billion by the end of this decade as time-to-service and massive scalability become the overriding competitive focus in the net economy,” said Mark Tolliver, president of iPlanet e-commerce solutions. “The market leader in this area will have a $5-$10 billion software business in this space by the middle of the decade – with partner revenue perhaps even quadrupling this number.”

Companies on the iPlanet Internet Service Deployment platform include: Andersen Consulting, answerthink, America Online, BMC Software, Cap Gemini-Ernst & Young, Center 7, Computer Sciences Corporation, Deloitte Consulting, EDS, EpicEdge, Everypath, Global Commerce Systems, iXL Enterprises, KPN, Loudcloud, Open Market, PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, Proxicom, QuantumLynx.com, SAIC, Sun Microsystems, and Telstra Online Services.

iPlanet E-Commerce Solutions, a Sun-Netscape alliance, was established in March 1999 by America Online and Sun Microsystems to power the next wave of the net economy.
